 Our Coaching Philosophy

The repeated success of our camp lies in the experience, enthusiasm and genuine devotion of the coaching staff.

Experience:  Collectively, the coaches at our camp have over 50 years of coaching experience at the college or high school level.  They also have over 30 years of collective coaching experience at diving camps, which is a claim that not many camps can make.  While many camps use college divers that have little coaching experience, we pride ourselves on the expertise that we can provide to our camp participants.

Enthusiasm:  Our coaching staff is known for their enthusiasm during practice and other camp activities.  This enthusiasm "rubs off", which results in a fun practice environment.  The fun often continues into the evening during activities such as volleyball, movie night, dance night, and the world famous lip sync/skit night.

Genuine devotion:  Everyone involved with our camp shares a common bond.  We are all devoted to the sport of diving.  We believe that our efforts help promote and perpetuate a sport that provides many positive experiences to its participants.

About the Coaches

Director/Coach - Joe Fisher

After coaching nine years at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Coach Fisher has recently returned to the University of Pittsburgh to finish his Ph.D.  His divers have won six national titles on the 3 meter board and five national titles on the 1 meter.  Two of Fisher's champion divers have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.  His experience includes over 20 years of coaching or teaching diving at the college and high school levels at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, University of Pittsburgh, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, two high schools, the Blugold Diving Camp and the Green Bay Diving Camp.  Coach Fisher has been presented the Coach of the Year award Four times by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.

Assistant Director/Coach - Al Hudacek

Coach Hudacek has been part of our diving camp from the beginning.  He has a wide variety of coaching experience at the college, high school and USD level.  He has produced 13 state qualifiers, a state champion, numerous national qualifiers and has been instrumental in establishing many diving programs throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Al is a four time All American who understands hard work.  His understanding of goal setting and goal achievement adds a special dimension to the camp experience.

Assistant Coach - Derick Black

Coach Black has been coach and counselor with our program since 1994.  He has attained All-American status as a collegiate diver and has coached both high school and college level divers with great success.  His enthusiasm and positive attitude are a great part of the enjoyable camp experience that divers take with them when they leave.

Other Coaches and Staff

Additional high school or collegiate coaches will be on staff for Diving Camp.  The camp maintains an excellent ration of qualified coaches to athletes.  This ensures that each diver will receive proper attention.  There will also be a head resident and camp counselors assigned to each wing of the dormitory.  They will be available 24 hours.

Lodging and Meals

Divers that will be residents for the week will be housed two to a room in an on-campus dormitory.  Roommate preference should be indicated on the registration form. If no preference is indicated or the preference cannot be matched, then roommate assignments will be made based on age similarity.  Dorms will be supervised at all times.

Camp residents will receive meals at a conveniently located campus cafeteria.  The balanced meals are chosen by a food service nutrition expert.  The variety of foods offered at each meal should meet the tastes of everyone.  Commuters are invited to eat at the cafeteria on a pay by meal basis, or are otherwise encouraged to bring their own lunches.
